Analysis and Evaluation
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I believe that my audio project challenges that of a real radio introductory jingle. By closely following the codes and conventions I believe that I have accomplished the targets set. My audio project has closely followed the codes and conventions by keeping a clear and smooth running clip altogether whilst experimenting with the appropriate sound clips. I believe I have also accomplished good mixing and layering as there is no blank periods of sound and there is no sound clips that clash.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My audio project was set out for teenagers between 13 and 19. It represents a particular social group in many ways. Firstly it represents a social group by the sound clips that are used during the introductory jingle. There is a mixture of sound clips in this introductory Jingle. Most of them are up-beat and there is a couple of radio sounds that give the impression of a new age and adds a hint of technology to the project. Another way the audio project represents a social group is because of the presenter and the guest speaker. The presenter comes across as having a very amusing voice and the way he talks is also different to what you would expect.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I don't think many media institutions would distribute my audio project because I don't believe that they would think that it would be professional enough to distribute to a large audience. Also I think that my audio project may be considered to be a bit too childish for most radio stations as it is not very serious.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my audio project would be teenagers between the age of 13 and 19 as I believe that how my radio jingle is constructed is appropriate to teenagers of this age. Also I believe that the presenter and the guest fit the role that this age group would find interesting.
How did you attract/address your audience?
I attracted the listeners with a catchy well thought through introductory radio jingle that had the right aspects to attract young people as it is up-beat and has a mixture of sound clips that would attract further listeners. The audience was addressed after the Jingle by a loud Presenter that has a dominant amusing voice that may of captured peoples imaginations and creative minds.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt how to successfully use the application of GarageBand and most of its aspects. It was difficult at constructing the audio project at the beginning and I found out that it was hard getting the timing of each sound clip right. Also I found it difficult getting the volume levels right as sometimes the sound clips became distorted as they were too loud.

Production
This image above is of the tracks on the far left hand side, the mixer in the middle and the actual sound clips on the right. As you can see by looking at the picture each sound effect or instrument has different volumes to enable it to work at its best. Some instruments I have used as background music or a base track have low volume levels as they cant be too loud and they cant over power the voices.
In this image above you can see how I have faded out a certain Radio sound. This Radio sound was actually a Siren and I wanted it to slowly fade out as I wanted to give the impression of it getting further away into the distance.
This image above is of an Ambient Guitar sound clip. I had to cut it in half as I didnt want it to carry on over into the archive sound clip which wouldnt of mixed in with it very well. The Ambient Guitar I used was for a base track against the presenters voice and the volume level meant it wasnt overpowering but at the same time it wasnt too quiet.

The image above is of the whole layout of GarageBand. This shows the tracks and mixer on the left hand side and also the audio clips on the track. The screenshot was taken halfway through the project and shows the slam of the drum lid and then the ambient guitar afterwards as the presenter is speaking.
This image of an sound clip from a slam on a symbol on a drumkit. I used this sound clip to end my radio jingle before I introduced the radio station to the listeners. Using this sound clip was appropriate as it ended the Jingle nicely. The image above is of the voice of the radio presenter. This has a volume bar underneath as It stops the voice from becoming too loud and therefore distorted which would put the whole project at risk of being unprofessional. The actual presenters voice was aimed at sounding like main actor from the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. I carried forward this voice as I wanted to add some humour into the audio project to make it more interesting for my target audience.

This image shows the beginning of the whole sound clip. I thought it was relevant to include this as it shows how I have used different archive clips and how the layering and volume levels had to be adjusted properly in order to give a smooth opening jingle to the audio project. Also in this clip you can see a variety of instruments and players that have aided in the project being up beat and well mixed together. Applications
I will be using GarageBand throughout this audio project as it has all of the neccessary components. GarageBand has a standard multi-track drag-and-drop interface where different (pre-) recorded sections, or loops, are strung together on separate tracks. The program comes with pre-made loops to speed up song creation. GarageBand uses two types of media: software instruments and real instruments. After finshing my project I will then export my sound clip to a quicktime Mp3 file which will enable me to post it on blogger also as it's an Mp3 file it will be compatible with other audio applications.
I may also use a program called Audicity. Audacity is a digital audio and recording application. Audacity is cross-platform and is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD. I may be able to use this program to finalise all of the sound clips and make sure everything runs smoothly all the way through.

Plan
For my audio project I will be creating a introductory radio jingle lasting around 10-15seconds followed by a presenter introducing and greeting a guest who will respond which will last around another 10-15seconds. Also I am going to include an archive sound clip that will relate to the guest which will last around 5-10seconds. All together the whole sound clip will last around 30-40seconds. Hopefully in this audio project I will be able to successfully demonstrate good use of garage band and correctly perform all the layering and looping to give a clear well timed and well mixed sound clip that covers all of the aspects listed above.

Target Audience
Most traditional radio stations follow the agenda of trying to attract a wide audience as generally the more people listening to your radio station the better. Some radio stations target specific audiences for example BBC Radio 4 specifically targets people who want to listen to classical music. My Radio station will target teenagers between the ages of 13-18. I have tried to target this audience by including amusing speech and relating the voices to a certain culture in order to entertain people. The radio Jingle at the beginning is up beat, crazy and bagging.
Presenter
The presenter of the radio station is vital in the show working correctly and targeting the audience properly. The Presenter has a familiar voice that teenagers will correspond with and hopefully find entertaining. The presenters voice was based on borats which teenagers found amusing so hopefully this is benefit the radio station.

Radio Jingle Innit
Judge Jules (Radio 1)
The third radio jingle I'm going to study is Judge Jules intro on BBC radio 1. The Jingle is almost integrated onto a previous Jingle. When the Jingle starts the listener is introduced to a sound of a horn from a car which lets the listener know that the show is about to start. The Jingle then goes on and there is a voice over talking about dance music and how its a Friday night. The jingle then has a techno and bass theme in the background which is very up beat and has a quick tempo to suggest that the music show is based on live drum and bass sort of genre. There is also hints of remixing and the noise of decks being scratched which gives the impression of a DJ which Judge jules is.

The Chris Moyles show Jingle actually lasts for a staggering 3mins which is extremely long for a radio jingle. The radio jingle starts with a beep which sort of sections of the last section of a show and introduces a new one. The music beings with a very happy orchestral stringed theme to it with tinkling in the background which makes the listener feel relaxed and happy. Then a drum and acoustic guitar is introduced which makes the jingle a bit more up beat. Over the top of the drums and guitar is the singing that is almost welcoming the listeners without Chris Moyles having to do it. The singing over the Jingle is also amusing which makes it entertaining for the listener before Chris Moyles actually begins his show without talking.

The first radio jingle I'm going to investigate is the Archers Jingle. This s a British radio soap opera broadcasted on the BBC Radio 4. The jingle lasts for roughly around 25 seconds and mainly consists of an arrangement of orchestral instruments e.g. violins and cellos. The jingle itself has quite a quick tempo and a good rhythm to it. This ties in well with the country life of the radio soap opera that the jingle is trying to portray.
